Week One (05/31 - 06/03)

  • Went through orientation
  • Starting to flesh out what research project will be
  • Read research papers on the meta-model and last year's project
  • Meeting with Dr. Longstreet
  • Meeting with Dr. Cooper
  • Starting to browse and refactor code

Week Two (06/06 - 06/10)

  • Updated around half of the test games to work with the new schema
  • Demonstrated those test cases in the preview tool
  • Started on some research on related and prior works

Week Three (06/13 - 06/17)

  • Finished refactoring XML test cases to be valid
  • Read through engine code
  • Reading research papers in optimization

Week Four (06/20 - 06/24)

  • Project is in the process of being changed... looks like detecting compromised actors in swarm robotics
  • Read up on swarm robotics
  • Read up on ROS
  • ROS environment is now set up
  • Will begin scripting multi-bot simulations

Week Five (06/27 - 07/01)

  • Was introduced to HEIR lab
  • Learned more about ROS and its publisher-subscriber implementation
  • Researching fault detection
  • Wrote flocking algorithm in Python
  • Wrote simple movement program for simulated robot
  • Made mid-way presentation
  • Updating Wiki to correctly display current project

Week Six (07/04 - 07/08)

  • Added custom messages
  • Added communication channels
  • Developed naive movement
  • Integrated Boids algorithm with robots
  • Implemented positional goals as external forces

Week Seven (07/11 - 07/15)

  • Started on the monitoring algorithm
  • Building and testing Wi-Fi trilateration service
  • Attempting to decentralize swarm communication
  • Finished re-imaging Turtlebots
  • Now verifying motor functions and calibrating Turtlebots

Week Eight (07/18 - 07/22)

  • Ran experiments with physical robots
  • Made poster for project
  • Programmed auto-discovery functions for swarm members, neighbor discovery, and wifi trilateration
  • Continued working on trilateration and anomaly detection algorithms

Week Nine (07/25 - 07/29)

  • Continued to debug trilateration service
  • Set up for experiment
  • Found out hardware didn't have needed capabilities
