  • Attended day 2 of the Data Science boot camp
  • Met with fellow researcher, Michael Rodriguez, and mentor Dr. Snowden to discuss research direction
  • Downloaded and registered ArcGIS software (geographic information system)

  • Imported small crime dataset into ArcGIS to ensure dataset was compatible with existing boundaries.

Week 7: July 12th, 2021

Monday (7/12/21)

  • Imported main dataset with over 40,000 reported crime incidents into ArcGIS.
  • Began cleaning alcohol outlet dataset provided by the City of Milwaukee using Excel
  • Began joining variables with socioeconomic attributes in ArcGIS.

  • Began visual analysis in ArcGIS, kernel density maps, heat maps, etc.
